Public Safety

Many factors affect the amount and types of crime reported in a community such as the economic status, educational attainment, and the composition (particularly age) of the population living in a community.   Public safety crime data provides one framework by which to measure the ability of the citizens to lead their lives in a safe environment.   Indicators in this section look at arrest rates for property crimes and violent crimes for youth ages 10-14 and ages 10-17, adult arrest rates for violent crimes, domestic violence offenses, and the total crimes committed in Pierce County as reported by the Washington Uniform Crime Reporting program.
