Family & Children

What is happening to the rate of youth arrests?  How many of our children are accessing DSHS programs?  How many children are accessing homeless services in school?

The families and children in our community are facing serious issues.  Children in Pierce County are experiencing homelessness and hunger and may not have the parental support to make good decisions.  Families are dealing with children involved in the criminal justice and foster care systems and some are dealing with children using methamphetamine.

Many are struggling to find assistance.  Recent legislation has put even more children at risk by decreasing the amount of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and we have already seen significant cuts in subsidized healthcare for low-income families.
