Arrest Rates (per 1,000) Ages 10-17 Property Crime
The arrest rate for youth ages 10-17 for property crimes in Pierce County has fallen since 1999 when the arrest rate was 26.00 per 1,000 residents in that age group, to 12.97 per 1,000 in 2009. Since 2001, the arrest rates for property crimes had stayed fairly level, ranging from 17.82 per 1000 in 2001, to a low of 14.74 in 2007. Compared to counties like ours, Pierce County has had a lower rate of arrests per 1,000 since 2006. Arrest rates for youth ages 10-17 for property crimes have been higher throughout Washington State than in Pierce County. In 1999, the arrest rate for property crime (ages 10-17) in Washington State was 27.49 per 1000, and 27.28 per 1000 in counties like ours.
